If you need it a bit more compact, the 11" is for you. I myself prefer the larger screen and writing area of the 12.9". I only take notes on it and use it for browsing and reading, but would not want to switch to the smaller one. I don't have a problem with the weight, either, when adding it with my MacBook Pro into my backpack.
